PHI UNO is the solo project of Luis Villalobos, a musician originally from Tonalá, Mexico, whose work explores sound as a space for expanded perception. Blending acoustic instrumentation, voice, and electronic processing, PHI UNO creates immersive soundscapes that move between stillness and motion, shadow and light, the grounded and the ethereal.

Drawing from experimental folk traditions, drone music, Mexican vocal heritage, contemplative practices, and the transformative potential of repetition, resonance, and silence, the project inhabits a territory where ritual sensibility meets contemporary sonic exploration.

Since 2018, PHI UNO has evolved through distinct sonic and conceptual stages, including the releases Primigenio (2018), Aixcaquema (2025), and Cihualpilli (2025). Beyond conventional concert settings, Villalobos has shared his work in spaces dedicated to contemplation, self-inquiry, and collective experience, approaching sound as an intentional medium for presence and exploration.

Now based in Chicago, PHI UNO continues to connect with venues, festivals, communities, and collaborators interested in experimental, immersive, and introspective artistic experiences.

Rooted in contemplation, introspection, movement, and depth, PHI UNO continues to evolve through the exploration of timeless textures and immersive sonic narratives.
